It is that time of the month again when veteran writer George R. R. Martin adds a little more delay in writing The Winds of Winter by updating his blog. Although we do love to hear from him, it seems that The Winds of Winter is taking quite a long time.

On his blog, the writer shared quite some iconic thoughts about the recent world of television series. With directors like Denis Villeneuve adapting the Dune franchise into movies, and Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks creating Shōgun, the world is really turning to the literature realm once again.

Movie writers and long-term collaborators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are arguably most known for their work on HBO’s Game of Thrones. However, the two have worked on a range of other extremely popular projects, such as It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, 3 Body Problem, and Leslie Jones: Time Machine.
The two almost added to this list a new Star Wars trilogy that they almost took up back in 2019. In an interview earlier this year, Weiss and Benioff revealed exactly what led to the cancellation of the project, which they ironically wanted to title The Last Jedi.

Netflix finally unveiled an official teaser for the second season of The Sandman yesterday, and it featured a first glimpse of Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny, and Barry Sloane as The Prodigal.
Though we did get to see Delirium's face, her full visage was somewhat obscured, and this new behind-the-scenes photo gives us a better look at the Hanna star in-costume as the youngers of The Endless.
In Neil Gaiman's comics, Delirium is the current manifestation of the being that started out as Delight. The character is a little... mixed up, but is loyal to her family and proves to be an invaluable ally to Dream during the events of "Brief Lives."

The Prodigal is finally set to return.
Throughout the first season of The Sandman, viewers met not only Dream a.k.a. Morpheus (Tom Sturridge), but also his siblings, known as the Endless. The mopey Dream gets a pick-me-up from his cheery sister Death (Kirby), while dealing with the machinations of the duplicitous twins Desire (Mason Alexander Park) and Despair (Donna Preston).
But readers of the cult comic book series by Neil Gaiman know that the Netflix adaptation left other members of the Endless off screen. But according to a casting announcement, the rest of the family will be dropping by for season two.
Esmé Creed-Miles of the Amazon Prime Video series Hanna will play the playful younger sister Delirium, while Adrian Lester, currently seen in the Disney+ show Renegade Nell, will don the cloak and chains of the mysterious Destiny.

The Sandman saga is back in production, preparing to bring new phantasmagorical episodes — conjured from Neil Gaiman’s iconic graphic novel, which debuted 35 years ago today — to the screen. “This week we officially restart production on the next sequence of stories of The Sandman for Netflix,”wrote Gaiman in a letter to fans in November 2023.“Genius showrunner Allan Heinberg and the countless people in front of and behind the camera are building something endlessly special, and bringing these stories to life in a way that would once have been unimaginable.”
When we last wandered into the dream world, the magnificently coiffed realm-lord Morpheus aka Dream (Tom Sturridge) and his cadre of companions faced down an impending onslaught of Lucifer’s (Gwendoline Christie) hell-spawned legions. Now, the Endless...

The Endless have assembled!
Netflix has shared a brief teaser for the second season of The Sandman, reintroducing the members of The Endless we met during season 1, Dream, Death, Desire and Despair, while providing our first glimpse of Morpheus' remaining siblings, Destiny, Delirium, and "The Prodigal."
Esmé Creed-Miles will play the youngest of the Endless, Delirium, while Adrian Lester will take on the role of the all-seeing Destiny, and Barry Sloane will play The Prodigal.
Anyone who has read Neil Gaiman's comic series will know who this really is, and while it wouldn't seem like much of a spoiler to reveal the name, it's clearly something the show is choosing to keep under wraps for the time being.

“Prepare yourselves.”
That’s what a sword weilding Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) declares to Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and her other warrior companions in the just released teaser trailer for Season 2 of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power – see below:
Season 2 of the J.R.R. Tolkien adaptation is coming on August 29, and “prepare yourselves” just might be an understatement.
One word: Sauron. Another word: Unleashed.
Much grittier and darker than most of Season 1, the just released peek at Season 2 also gives a brief look at the Charlie Vicker’s portrayed Mordor master’s Dark Tower. As well, there’s some new rings and their creation in there too, and one Hell of an explosion that could rival Mount Doom’s big blow-up in Season 1. Or, as Khazad-dûm Prince Durin (Owain Arthur) puts it in said minute-long teaser: “an evil, ancient and powerful has returned” — as you can see above.

It will be worth it. That’s what the first two seasons of Good Omens have taught us as we await the third to return. The Prime Video series, based on the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett and now expanding on that story, began by following the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant) over the leading up to their attempt to stop Armageddon after the birth of the antichrist. The second season moved beyond the book and saw Aziraphale and Crowley hiding the amnesiac archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) from both Heaven and Hell before it ended in heartbreak. We know it will be some time before we find out what happens next, so below, we’re gathering everything we know about the future of Good Omens, including teases we got from Gaiman. Where Did Good Omens Season 2 Leave Crowley & Aziraphale?...

Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli hired an American, Steve Alpert, as the head of its international division in 1996. His main duties involved the translation of Ghibli’s projects for the English-speaking audience. In his memoir, Sharing a House with the Never-Ending Man, Alpert detailed his experience working with Miyazaki. He also told the story about how Harvey Weinstein’s Miramax posed a problem for his first Ghibli project, Princess Mononoke.

However, Alpert did not have to single-handedly deal with Miramax to save Miyazaki’s film as he had help from screenwriter Neil Gaiman. Gaiman was hired by the studio to write the English-language screenplay of the film.

If you have seen any of the shows influenced by Neil Gaiman, you know that nothing happens for no reason. These fantasy series are usually full of references and metaphors, and that makes the viewer's experience with these shows ten times more exciting.
Even though Dead Boy Detectives is only based on Neil Gaiman's characters and doesn't have the author in the cast, it still fits the description. The show is full of references and metaphors, and while some are more or less understandable, others still mess with the viewer's brain.
What Does the White Lily Mean?
In the farewell scene between Edwin and Cat King, the latter comes to him with a lily as a gift. The scene is far more honest and heartfelt than any of the previous ones, and Edwin even gives Cat King, who has essentially held him hostage, a kiss on the cheek. However, the...

You might think that the person responsible for some of the greatest works in the animated genre might be satisfied with his career. However, Genndy Tartakovsky is just getting started. The Russian-American animator has created shows like Dexter’s Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, and Samurai Jack, which have been crucial to our childhoods.

He also went on to work on projects like Star Wars: Clone Wars and Hotel Transylvania as well as created an adult animated action horror, Primal. Clearly, Genndy Tartakovsky’s career is filled to the brim with successes but he believes he still has a long way to go before he finds his magnum opus. In fact, there is one incredible animator out there that Genndy Tartakovsky wants to be like, if not better – Hayao Miyazaki.

Game of Thrones was the reigning TV show during the 2010s as people continued to turn up to experience the mythos of Westeros for every season. While the final season divided fans, the show as a whole is still considered one of the best epics to have graced the TV screen. Many actors from the show had their breakthrough from the series.
Liam Cunningham as Davos Seaworth in Game of Thrones
Liam Cunningham was one of the highlight performers from the series as Davos Seaworth. Series creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss had a great working relationship with the Irish actor. After the series’ end, Cunningham was committed to doing another series, but the showrunners told him to ditch that show so that he could come aboard for their next epic series 3 Body Problem.

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" lives up to its title by placing a lot of focus on the clone troopers themselves. Some of the characters, like Commander Cody and Commander Bly, were inherited from the "Star Wars" prequel films. The show used the idea that clones had nicknames (instead of only serial numbers) and ran with it, creating many other clones -- including Captain Rex -- with custom names and armor to convey individuality.
One of the more striking clone looks is Commander Doom, who appears only briefly in the "Clone Wars" season 6 premiere "The Unknown." That name isn't an accident; the "Star Wars" website confirms that the creators named Doom after Marvel Comics villain Doctor Victor Von Doom. While Commander Doom gets too little screen time to see if he has the ego of his namesake, the creators used Doctor Doom's design to color his armor.

The Sandman graphic novel is, without exaggeration, Neil Gaiman's magnum opus, his most ambitious and complex work. It has won the love of many fans, spawned numerous spin-offs, won several awards, and gone through more than one reprint.
The idea of adapting The Sandman, initially as a feature film, appeared in the late 1990s, but due to creative differences the project got stuck in production hell. It was only in 2019 that a deal between Netflix and Warner Bros. was announced, which led to the long-awaited adaptation – already in the form of a series.
The Sandman, released in 2022, was a definite success – it received 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and unconditional love from fans of the comic as well as viewers unfamiliar with the original source.

On April 25, a new series was released that all fans of Neil Gaiman's work have been waiting for an incredibly long time. After all, this is not just a live-action adaptation of one of the famous American author's works, but a story that takes place in the same universe as The Sandman! We are, of course, talking about Dead Boy Detectives, a young adult comedy-drama that skillfully combines elements of occult detective and supernatural horror.
The new series has pleasantly impressed critics and audiences alike, with an astounding 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But despite fan love, rave reviews, and the top spot on Netflix's regional charts, Dead Boy Detectives doesn't seem to be getting the ratings it deserves. Unfortunately, all of this puts the show at risk of cancellation.

Dead Boy Detectives star George Rexstrew is quick to describe his first in-person encounter with his co-stars ahead of filming the pilot: “Love at first sight.”
Up to that point, interactions between the leads of the Netflix series that released April 25 had taken place during chemistry reads through computer screens. But with filming commencing, Rexstrew would meet Jayden Revri at Heathrow Airport where they flew from London to Vancouver. A day later, Kassius Nelson would join them.

Unfortunately for fans of the fantasy genre, Netflix has never been the network you can trust to keep shows in the genre going. After the huge backlash the platform received for canceling Shadow and Bone, one would think their methods would have changed, but fans of the newly released series aren't so sure.
As ironic as it is, news of Netflix's acquisition of the Dead Boy Detectives TV series from HBO Max broke the same day the cancellation of Lockwood & Co. was announced. And as much as fans of the DC characters would like to believe they won't suffer the same fate, it's hard not to draw parallels.

Twenty years ago, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s breakout hit The O.C., about a group of teens coming of age in Newport Beach, premiered on Fox. By the time the 27-episode first season aired its finale in the spring of 2004, the show was the highest-rated drama on TV among adults 18 to 34 and had catapulted its stars — whose characters were affectionately known as the “Core Four” — to massive, near-overnight popularity.
It wouldn’t be the first or last young adult series in the U.S. to generate a cultural frenzy. But the industry ecosystem that birthed and defined zeitgeisty YA shows like it — 22-episode drama series with largely white casts found through in-person auditions — is vanishing. As viewers have increasingly abandoned broadcast and cable TV, the linear networks these shows called home (Fox, The WB, Upn, The CW, MTV and Freeform) have also faced mergers, acquisitions, multiple rebrands or given...

The limited series, which reached 2.6 million views in its debut weekend — impressive, given the show’s minimal marketing push — rose to 13.3 million views in its second week on the chart, then shot up by another 65%, landing at 22 million views for the April 22-28 viewing window.

Baby Reindeer has taken over Netflix.
Richard Gadd’s breakout stalker series was already No. 1 on the streamer’s English-language TV list and, not only did it retain that title for the second week in a row, its viewership shot up to 22M views from April 22 to April 28.
The series, which is loosely based on Gadd’s own experience with a stalker, was easily the most-watched title of the week. It was also leagues above the No. 2 series for this week, which was Dead Boy Detectives.
That series, adapted from Neil Gaiman’s comics, drew 3.1M views after debuting over the weekend.
Elsewhere on the TV list, The Gentlemen and 3 Body Problem are still going strong with 2.3M and 2.2M views, respectively. Both are still quite a ways away from Netflix’s most popular list.

While it’s case closed for theDead Boy Detectives’ supernatural adventures in Season 1, there’s still plenty of mysteries to unravel — and we have some questions.
Over the course of eight episodes, the ghost teens behind the Dead Boy Detectives agency — early 1900s young gentleman Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and 1980s “rude boy” Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri) — have assisted spirits stuck in the living world with their biggest challenges. They’ve seen it all: paranormal parasites, déjà vu in a haunted house, and even a butcher shop date gone awry.
With the help of their totally alive friend, the clairvoyant Crystal Palace (Kassius Nelson), and her bubbly bud Niko (Yuyu Kitamura), the boys also faced down evil witch Esther Finch (Jenn Lyon). But she’s not the only evil out there.

For us The Sandman fans who yearned for a second season of Neil Gaiman's most enigmatic TV project, Dead Boy Detectives was a life-saver. The new Netflix show that follows the adventures of two ghosts who prefer solving supernatural mysteries to enjoying their afterlife is a fantastic addition to the already rich universe of The Sandman.
The spinoff somehow manages to be very similar and very different to its parent show at the same time. Despite the shared universe and the general The Sandman-esque vibe, Dead Boy Detectives is much more light-hearted and, if we may, fun.

Since establishing Studio Ghibli in 1985, Hayao Miyazaki has continued to deliver some of the finest films the medium of animation has to offer. Harvey Weinstein made headlines again recently as his conviction on counts of r*pe in New York was reportedly overturned by the New York Court of Appeals. The former studio head became the catalyst for the ‘#MeToo’ and ‘Time’sUp’ movements across the globe and his conviction was regarded as a huge victory for the movement.
Weinstein was known for his alleged unethical business practices even before his serious crimes came to the forefront. He came under fire recently when it became known that his company Miramax reportedly removed author Neil Gaiman’s credits from the posters of the English version of Studio Ghibli’s Princess Mononoke. Gaiman had reportedly been the main translator of the project.

Proven by Stranger Things’ stunning success ever since its release back in 2016, the new TV formula isn’t actually that new and was initially put into a 33-year-old DC comic book. Now the latter’s plot has finally made its way to big screens and has just landed on Netflix.
